These past few months
I have learned
to be peaceable;
to savour the hours
when I must be still;

To take pleasure
in the lazy drift of clouds
through the spaces
between buildings;
to allow the ebb and flow
of other people's conversations
to rock me;

To watch, contentedly,
the slow traversal
of a shaft of sunlight
across the wall
outside the unit;

To let myself float
gently upon the ripples
and eddies of music;
to let the words come
in their own time;
to, simply, be.
